The other day I opened the weather network app and at the top, beside an orange exclamation point, it said “Ontario’s rut: multiple days of cold, rain”. In May! This is apparently the coldest May we’ve had in sixty years and it got me thinking about cookies. It was the kind of day where a cookie could really fix things. I went to get the nearest-to-me cookie that I really like, the brown butter chocolate chip from Blackbird, but they were sold out - the cashier told me people were buying them in “fours and fives” that day. “Ontario’s rut!” I said. My favourite chocolate chip cookie is the walnut chocolate chip cookie from La Gourmand. It is an award-winning cookie - there is an actual trophy on display, filled with trophy cookies. However, going there was not in the cards that day due to the aforementioned weather. I kept thinking about cookies though - here are some memorable ones to help get out of a rut:
